A client requested that I contact their web development company to explain what changes needed to be made to his business website. The company told me that making these changes (adding a few submenus, installing Google Analytics) would ‘break’ the website, and that they probably couldn’t do it- the subtext being that it would only happen for a very high price.
True story.
Business owners, bloggers, anyone with a website that was designed or developed by a third party- this is shady behavior. It’s unacceptable, in fact. This company was blatantly trying to take advantage of their trusting clients, some of whom probably are not tech-savvy enough to know for sure that they are being taken advantage of. For the record, any professional web developer should be happy to work with you and your budget in all areas relating to the content and formatting.
